S.W.i.M. Program
"One goal I have for this summer is to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Another goal I have is to help campers have fun. I want them to enjoy themselves at Camp Fowler. The third goal I have is to learn new skills and be willing to try new things. I'll probably do things I've never done before!" --SWiM applicant The S.W.i.M.'s at Camp Fowler are an important part of our ministry. They are high school students in 10th-12th grade who volunteer for two weeks out of the summer to work alongside of the summer and volunteer staff. A S.W.i.M. (which stands for “Student Working in Ministry”) gets hands on training over Memorial Day Weekend to look “behind the scenes” at the ministry of Fowler. They get time to discuss and share goals and concerns, learning about Fowler's expectations of them, and hearing about the vision of the ministry at Fowler from director Kent Busman and other summer staff.
Each of the students will work two weeks during the summer season alongside of the summer staff. They will assist in program areas as well as in kitchen or maintenance areas. The SwiM students will each have a great opportunity to share with younger campers many of the lessons they themselves learned when they were campers at Fowler.
