"Where will the Word be heard
Where will the sound resound?"
T.S. Elliot, Ash Wednesday
Come away to a beloved place of intentional silence for a few days this Lent in order to listen for,
and reverently respond to, the Word at the center of the world.
Fowler has set aside Chi-Rho House from Friday afternoon, March 19 through Tuesday morning, March 23, for this contemplative retreat. Each day there will be opportunity to share in morning, noon, and evening prayer. Communion on Saturday and Monday will be incorporated into evening prayer. For those who wish, occasions will provided for pastoral conversation with Daniel Carlson, returning Lenten retreat leader and Associate Pastor of First Reformed, Schenectady.
To facilitate the intent of this retreat, each participant will have their own room and private bath, unless otherwise requested. A light breakfast, lunch, and full dinner will be provided each day. Informal conversation, reading, and handwork around the blazing hearth are almost always options. Outdoors, Fowler's wooded trails await all those who wish to trek about by boots, snow shoes, or skis.
The retreat has been scheduled to allow participants the flexibility of either attending for the weekend (Friday-Sunday, $80), the start of the week (Sunday-Tuesday $80), or both (Friday-Tuesday,$140 ). The retreat is open to all those within Albany Synod who long for such a space and time to hear the Voice.
Daniel may be contacted (518-377-2201) for further details regarding the retreat. Those who wish to register, may do so below.
